Veteran Congress Leader T H Mustafa Passes Away at 82

Renowned Congress stalwart and former state minister, T H Mustafa, passed away on Sunday at the age of 82 due to various age-related diseases. The veteran leader, survived by his wife and eight children, breathed his last at 5.43 AM in a private hospital where he had been undergoing treatment.

Mustafa, who served as the Food Minister in the K Karunakaran cabinet, was a five-time legislator, leaving an indelible mark on Kerala's political landscape. Leaders from different political affiliations expressed their condolences on his demise.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan acknowledged Mustafa's significant contributions to public life, emphasizing his roles as a minister, legislator, and Congress leader. Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan praised Mustafa's efforts in strengthening the Congress and leading effectively in the Ernakulam district.

K Sudhakaran, the KPCC chief, lamented the 'great loss' to the party, highlighting Mustafa's instrumental role in bolstering the Congress in Ernakulam. Sudhakaran remembered him as a remarkable orator and organizer who transcended political and religious boundaries to help those in need.

AICC General Secretary in charge of Organisation, K C Venugopal, expressed deep sorrow, noting Mustafa's rise within the Congress through the Youth Congress. Venugopal emphasized Mustafa's significant contribution to the party's growth in the district, even going so far as to sell his own property to support it.

Mustafa's leadership extended to serving as the President of the Ernakulam District Congress Committee for 14 years, and he held positions as KPCC General Secretary and KPCC Vice President. With his passing, the Congress has lost a stalwart known for his dedication and selfless service to the party and the people.
