Vibrant Gujarat Summit witnesses a substantial investment commitment from Suzuki Motors, as they plan to infuse Rs 3,200 crore into a new production line within their existing Gujarat plant. Additionally, they aim to invest a whopping Rs 35,000 crore in establishing a second plant in the state.
During the summit kickoff, President of Suzuki Motors, Toshihiro Suzuki, unveiled their strategy, announcing their scheduled launch of the first electric vehicle from the Gujarat plant by year-end. This model will not only target the Indian market but also be exported to Japan and various European countries, expanding their global presence.
The new production line is anticipated to yield an extra 2.5 lakh units annually, significantly boosting Suzuki Motor Gujarat's current production capacity of 7.5 lakh units to 10 lakh units per year.
Simultaneously, the construction of the second car plant in Gujarat is expected to amplify the company's production by an additional 10 lakh units per year. This expansion would elevate Suzuki Motors' overall annual production capacity in Gujarat to a substantial 20 lakh units.
Suzuki's enthusiasm for the Indian auto market remains high, especially through its subsidiary Maruti Suzuki, which presently holds the position of the leading carmaker in terms of sales volume.
