India's Vice President met US President, took pledge to fight against terrorism

Washington: India's Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar participated in the ongoing 17th East Asia Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Sunday (13 November). During this, Dhankhar met with US President Joe Biden. Vice President Dhankhar, along with External Affairs Minister Dr Jaishankar, is on a visit to Cambodia to attend the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit and the 17th East Asia Summit.

As per reports, Vice President Dhankhar addressed the East Asia Summit today. Earlier, in his address on Saturday (November 12), Vice President Dhankhar, while discussing the relations between India and ASEAN countries, emphasized that we have to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership. Along with this, he had said that there is a need to resolve to increase cooperation against terrorism. Dhankhar announced an additional contribution of US$ 5 million to the ASEAN-India Science and Technology Fund to enhance cooperation in the areas of public health, renewable energy and smart agriculture.

In a joint statement, ASEAN-India emphasized deepening ties, maritime connectivity and cultural exchanges between Southeast Asia and India. At the same time, he said that these relations have strengthened in the last 30 years. India and ASEAN countries also announced to enhance cooperation in the digital economy through a series of regional capacity-building activities at the hackathon along with digital transformation, digital trade, digital skills and innovation.
