Shimla: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's statement came amidst the election results of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. He credited Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra for the Congress' stellar performance in Himachal Pradesh. Asked about the Gujarat election results, Kharge said in a democracy there are defeats and victories.

Let us tell you that in the Gujarat Assembly Elections 2022, the position of the Congress was bad. It seems to be diminished to 15-17 seats. On the other hand, in Himachal Pradesh, the Congress has won a majority with 39 seats. Discussing the results of the elections, Kharge said, "We have won the Himachal Pradesh elections. Thanks to voters, workers, and leaders for this. I also want to thank Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. The Bharat Jodo Yatra helped us in this victory. Sonia Gandhi's blessings are also with us.''

Thereafter, Kharge was questioned on the poor performance of Congress in the Gujarat elections. On this, he said that I am not taking credit for it. In a democracy, there is victory and defeat. This is a battle of our thoughts. We will rectify the shortcomings and continue the fight. Kharge also tweeted about the results of the election. Here he wrote, thanks to all our workers and office bearers. We accept the mandate of the people of Gujarat. Without compromising on our ideology, we will keep fighting and remove the shortcomings. According to the Election Commission, BJP has so far won 17 seats in Himachal Pradesh and is leading in 9 seats. Congress is ahead in 9 seats after winning 30 seats.
