Gariaband: In Gariaband, Chhattisgarh, the people of the village blocked the Gariaband National Highway 130C. The people of the village clashed with the police who went to open the traffic. Angry villagers pelted stones at the police. Thereafter, the policemen fled from the spot saving their lives. The people of the village also vandalized ten vehicles including the police vehicle. Mainpur police station in-charge and many policemen were injured due to stone pelting.

Hundreds of people from seven villages, along with villagers of Kandekela village, were protesting near Dhuruvagudi on Monday morning demanding a paddy procurement center, the report said. The villagers had blocked National Highway 130C, which lasted for about 5 hours. Due to traffic disruption, there was a long line of vehicles on the national highway. Along with the revenue staff on the spot, the high officials of the police continued to try to handle the situation. But failed.

Then more police force was called to open the jam. The policemen asked the protesters to open the jam. But the villagers refused to do so. On this, the policemen started showing strictness on them. The villagers were enraged at this. They surrounded the policemen and started pelting stones. To save themselves from the stones, the policemen came out of the crowd and ran. Mainpur police station in-charge and several policemen were injured in the stone pelting.
