On Thursday, the trailer for Neeyat, a murder mystery featuring Vidya Balan as a detective, was revealed. The classic whodunit, directed by Anu Menon, appears to be straight out of an Agatha Christie novel. In addition, it reminds me of Rian Johnson's Knives Out (2019).

The trailer narrates the story of millionaire Ashish Kapoor's strange murder, which occurred during his birthday celebration in Scotland in front of his close family and friends. They believe it was a suicide attempt, but CBI officer Mira Rao reveals it was a murder. Close family members and friends who attend the gathering are the primary suspects. The CBI agent employs all of her abilities to uncover a case in which no one is who they appear to be and everyone has a secret. The film contains numerous plot twists and turns, as well as some hidden and cunning intentions.

Vidya Balan's long-awaited return to the big screen after four years will be marked by Neeyat. Her most recent theatrical release was Jagan Shakti's sci-fi ensemble Mission Mangal in 2019. Her most recent solo theatrical appearance was in Suresh Triveni's 2017 blockbuster Tumhari Sulu. Vidya has only appeared in films that released straight on Prime Video India since 2019, including Anu Menon's Shakuntala Devi (2020), Sherni, and Suresh Triveni's Jalsa last year. Vidya will be seen in the upcoming romantic comedy Lovers, alongside Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D'Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy.

Anu Menon, who previously worked with Vidya on the biopic of mathematics great Shakuntala Devi, directs the murder mystery. Ram Kapoor, Rahul Bose, Neeraj Kabi, Shahana Goswami, Amrita Puri, Dipannita Sharma, Niki Walia, Shashank Arora, Prajakta Koli, and Danesh Razvi also appear in Neeyat. Anu, Priya Venkataraman, Advaita Kala, and Girvani Dhyani co-wrote it, and Kausar Munir wrote the dialogues. Vikram Malhotra's Abundantia Entertainment is in charge of production.
