Vidya Balans's Neeyat box office collection Day 1

Neeyat, Vidya Balan's most recent movie in theatres, made just a little over $1 million on its first day of release, according to sources. The murder mystery movie, which had its July 7 release, was directed by Anu Menon.

With 1.02 crores coming in, Neeyat had a decent first day. These are the kinds of figures that were anticipated for a movie that primarily targets multiplex audiences and the intellectuals. Therefore, a start like this was necessary to lay the groundwork before anticipating word of mouth to be of the sort that propels the momentum over the course of the weekend.

If one puts this into context, Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway, which was out a few months prior, also made 1.27 crores. It had a somewhat private release, and when word of mouth spread, it grew.

After a four-year absence, Vidya is back in theatres with Neeyat. She has since had digital releases. These included the biopics Sherni and Jalsa as well as Shakuntala Devi. Ram Kapoor, Shashank Arora, Rahul Bose, Prajakta Koli, Neeraj Kabi, Amrita Puri, Shahana Goswami, Dipannita Sharma, Danesh Razvi, and Niki Walia are also included in the movie in addition to Vidya.

Expectations are that Neeyat, which stars Vidya Balan, will expand in a similar way and record a weekend hit as that movie was also a female-centric production.of over 5 crores at least.

Neeyat has garnered negative to reviews, with the majority of reviewers labelling it a drab thriller. According to the movie review "A murder mystery with four killed  one dog and three men  the thriller keeps you hooked in parts. I don't know if I can pin any one particular thing that left me impressed in Neeyat. Maybe the climax was a bit of a redemption for the frail and overcomplicated plot with never-ending subplots plaguing the main story. Not only Anu Menon's direction falters big time, the film overall lacks soul, appears lethargic and goes all over the place when it comes to screenplay."

Kartik had paid Rs 17.50 crore for a 1,916 sq ft flat in Presidency co-operative building in Juhu, Mumbai.
