South actor Vijaykumar is celebrating his birthday today. Vijaykumar's real name is Panchkumaram Rangasamy Pillai, Vijaykumar is an Indian actor and politician. He started his film career as a child artist in the Tamil film Sri Valli (1961), and started playing the lead role in the film Aval Oru Thodar Kathai (1974). He then worked in Madhurtejam (1977) and Azha Unai Aarthikkiren (1979).

He has worked in some Telugu and Malayalam films. He also worked in television serials Thangam, Vamsam, Talambralu and Nandini. Vijaykumar's popular films are Agni Natchathiram (1988), Kizhakku Chemayile (1993) and Antimantharai (1996). His journey started as a child artist in the film. Though there were not many offers to come for the younger actor, he was to play the role of Lord Murugan in Kandhan Karunai, but Shivkumar played that role instead.

Vijayakumar played a small role as one of the Lords, who was arrested by Surpadman. Vijayakumar got his first break in Ponnuku Thanga Mansu directed by Devaraj-Mohan. Shivkumar was the other hero in the film. The success of Ponnuku Thanga Mansu earned him a permanent place in Tamil cinema. Vijaykumar was a popular actor. He worked with leading actors of the seventies, with MG Ramachandran, Indru Pol, Sivaji Ganesan in Dheepam and in Kamal Haasan.
