London: Fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya has introduced a settlement package as the last option to protect himself. Mallya has said that he is ready to give Rs 13,960 crore to the banks. Vijay Mallya has no choice left now and if the government approves this package then this may be the last option left with him.
Vijay Mallya has no legal option left to avoid extradition to India. This settlement package is the last ray of hope for him. Last month, Vijay Mallya lost his case against extradition and he has now been refused to appeal again in the top court of Britain. According to TOI's report, Vijay Mallya's lawyer has told the top court that he has promised to give banks a comprehensive settlement package. However, Mallya's lawyer did not say how much the settlement amount was. But in a petition filed last month, Mallya has talked about the settlement package of Rs 13,960 crore.
Mallya owes 9,000 crores to the banks, but now the interest on this has become very high. Therefore, Vijay Mallya has now offered to pay about 14 thousand crores, adding interest as well. This is the highest amount ever offered by Vijay Mallya. Mallya intends to end his dispute with the consortium of banks and close all money laundering cases against him.
