Amaravati: Director General of Police Gautam D Sawang said that the officials of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized drugs in Gujarat's Mundra port. In this regard, the Vijayawada Police Commissioner has clarified that Vijayawada city has no connection with the drug racket. Therefore, the DGP appealed to the political leaders not to create panic among the people by false campaign regarding the matter. He asked political leaders not to spread false propaganda on sensitive issues like drug case. He said that facts should be ascertained before making statements on such issues. But some political leaders are repeating the same theme over and over again.

He said that arrests are being made in Delhi, Noida, Chennai and Mundra in drug cases. It has nothing to do with AP. The DRI officials also clarified that the accused used only the Vijayawada address and there is no trace of drug trafficking in Andhra Pradesh.

Recently, there was a stir in the state due to the news of Vijayawada becoming the gateway to the international drug racket. Officials of the Central Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) had received information about smuggling of heroin from Afghanistan to Gujarat. On the basis of information, heroin worth about Rs 9,000 crore was found in huge quantity during the inspection of Mundra port in Gujarat. Heroin under the name 'Talcum Powder' was imported from Hassan Hussain Limited in Kandahar. While probing this, DRI officials came to know that Vijayawada based Ashi Trading Company imported heroin from Afghanistan, Police immediately reached the spot and identified Ashi Trading Company at Gadiyaramwari Street in Vijayawada. and detained the representatives of the company.
