In Manipur, ahead of the assembly elections, a round of accusations has begun in the state. The ruling BJP and the National People's Party (NPP) on Saturday blamed each other for the violence in the state. Andro constituency in east Imphal district witnessed severe violence on Friday evening, in which at least seven persons were injured and about six houses and five cars were seriously damaged.

Manipur CM N Biren Singh on Saturday said that an inquiry has been initiated into the pre-poll violence in the Andro assembly constituency. However, the BJP has no involvement in this violence. The CM alleged that opposition candidates were misusing the security provided for their security.

At least seven persons were admitted to hospitals after Friday night's violence in the Andro constituency of Manipur. The injured include NPP candidate Sanjay Singh's father L Shyamjai and BJP candidate T Shyamkumar. Family members of BJP's Andro Mandal president in charge Mehobamb Babu were also injured in the clash. All of them have been admitted to hospitals in Imphal. The NPP has also filed a complaint against the Bharatiya Janata Party, claiming that the father of the NPP candidate was shot dead outside his house in the constituency. Meanwhile, NPP national president Conrad Sangma met the chief electoral officer on Saturday.
