New Delhi: Team India captain Virat Kohli has been hit by a mountain of sorrow. Coach Suresh Batra, who taught him batting tricks as a child, passed away on Thursday. Virat Kohli trained with coach Rajkumar Sharma at the West Delhi Cricket Academy in his early days of cricket. Suresh Batra was assistant coach at the same academy.
Suresh Batra recognized Kohli's talent at the age of just nine. He taught Kohli the basic tricks of batting as a child. Senior sports journalist Vijay Lokpalli tweeted about the tragic incident. He wrote, "Suresh Batra had suddenly fallen after performing morning worship. He couldn't get up after that". Vijay Lokpalli posted a picture on his Twitter handle. Vijay Lokpalli captioned the picture with the caption, "Suresh Batra, wearing a striped T-shirt, coached Virat Kohli as a child. He passed away on Thursday. He was 53 years old."
Virat Kohli's coach Rajkumar Sharma has also condoled the passing away of Suresh Batra. He said he lost his younger brother when Suresh Batra left. Rajkumar Sharma said he had known Suresh Batra since 1985. Let's say both of them helped him hone his talent before Kohli became a star batsman.
