INDORE: A dynamic workshop on Visualization and creative thinking was organised by Drupad Society for Arts and Holistic development. The workshop was aimed at skill development for children adolescents and youth.  The subject of the workshop is an important aspect of learning process and has deep impact on the way a person acquires information, synthesises it and accordingly uses it in his or her life.

Rehabilitation Counsellor Dr. Ashish Pillai led the workshop for 40 youngsters. Eliciting the importance of Visualization Ashish Pillai said, “Mental imagery has been a skill that has helped several influential people. We visualize to create a mental scene. Visualization is a handy mental tool, which we all use every day, albeit unknowingly. We use it when making plans, when we read a book, when we give directions how to arrive to a certain place, and we use it to find solutions to problems. Ashish Pillai took the participant through the journey of effectively visualizing with the help of various activities.

The workshop was aimed at helping participants to stimulate their senses familiarizing them with self and increasing their motivation to reach their goals. Visualization acts as a reinforcement to positive thoughts. The visualization can help in dealing with high-pressure situations by mentally prepping the individual for challenging circumstances.

Visualization can be a great tool to develop coping strategies and better respond to future anxieties. Activities like drawing a monster based on poetry, visualising sense of sound through lines, visualising textual ideas were conducted to enhance visualization skills. Workshop also dwelt into creative thinking aspect as the current generation is highly enthusiastic to do something new in their lives. Participants like Avni Jadon (age: 8 years) said during post workshop that the activities were fun filled and gave new feel. Akshara Likhar (age: 16years) found the visualization techniques very satisfying and it helped her connect with her surroundings. Participant Gopika Nair(age:12year) said it was great to learn something new.

Dr. Ashish Pillai informed that this workshop was second in the series, first being “Fluidity and Agility workshop (FAD). These are organized through zoom, in an effort to better equip individuals in these difficult and competitive time.
