New Delhi: According to the Election Commission, 48.26 percent polling has been recorded in Assam and 58.15 percent in West Bengal till 1:30 pm in the second phase of assembly elections. Earlier, a BJP worker was found hanged in his house at Nandigram in the East Medinipur district of West Bengal, creating tension in the area amid high profile voting in the seat.

BJP leaders have alleged that the activist had been receiving threats from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) since he took part in the roadshow of superstar Mithun Chakraborty, who campaigned in the area in support of Shubhendu Adhikari on March 30. TMC chief Mamata Banerjee has arrived to inspect the Gokulnagar booth in Nandigram.  Mamata and Suvendu Adhikari have a thorny clash in the Nandigram seat. The two leaders are making strong efforts to win the seat.

TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee has been disputing the school where Gokulnagar has arrived. Supporters of the BJP are alleging that they are being prevented from voting. TMC supporters are alleging that people from outside are coming and disputing. Mamata Banerjee is present inside the school.
