Akshay Kumar’s selfie failed to impress the audience in its opening day. If its collection is not increased in the upcoming days then the film will become his sixth flop in a year. Kangana Ranaut who remains vocal on different issues also took a dig at Karan Johar as the film is produced by his production house.      

 Kangana took to social media and wrote, “Karan Johar's movie Selfie has hardly made 10 lakhs on the first day I don't see even one trade or media person talk about it forget mocking or bullying him the way they harass me…”  One user wrote, “'Male version of Kangana Ranaut!,' as Akshay's ‘Selfiee’ fails to impress viewers, may be his 6th flop film in a row.” Kangana Ranaut was quick to gave a response. She wrote, “I was looking for news about selfie flop I found all the news is about me…yeh bhi meri hi galti hai,” with some laughing emojis.The actress further added, “Wah bhai Karan johar wah (Congrats).”

Selfiee' is backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. The film will also mark Prithviraj Sukumaran and Magic Frames' debut in Hindi cinema production. Selfiee' is a remake of the 2019 Malayalam comedy-drama 'Driving Licence'. The original Malayalam movie was directed by Lal Jr from a script by Sachy. Akshay and Emraan will also be seen having a dance-off on the recreated version of the song 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari'. The original number is from the 1994 film 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari' featuring Akshay alongside Saif Ali Khan.
