As officials from the meteorological department expect a substantial increase in temperatures over the next 48 hours, Delhi is in for a steamy weekend. In most places, the maximum temperature is predicted to be between 41°C and 43°C. A new western disturbance is expected to deliver little rain on May 23 and 24, so there will soon be some relief.

While it's anticipated that Saturday's air quality will mainly remain unchanged, Sunday's air quality may decline. The meteorological station for Delhi, Safdarjung, recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2°C on Friday, two degrees below average but two degrees higher than the 36.5°C temperature from the day before.

Strong winds and rain in the area on Thursday morning, according to Kuldeep Srivastava, a scientist with the India Meteorological Department (IMD), are to blame for the recent drop in temperature. He explained that a disturbance in the west had an impact on the region, bringing strong winds of 55 kph and brief rains.
As per reports, Safdarjung could experience temperatures as high as 41 or 42°C, with other areas of Delhi experiencing even greater temperatures. Furthermore, rain may fall on May 23 and 24 as a result of the impending western disturbance.

The Sports Complex station (Akshardham) and Najafgarh recorded the two highest maximum temperatures in Delhi on Friday, both at 40.1°C. The highest temperature recorded in Gurugram was 38.5°C, while the highest in Noida was 37.8°C.

Delhi reported a low temperature on Friday of 24.4°C, which was higher than the 21.9°C recorded on Thursday. Weekend forecasts call for minimum temperatures between 24 and 25 °C.

The Central Pollution Control Board said that Delhi's air quality remained in the "moderate" range, with a 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 152. This represents a modest decline from the AQI of 149 the day before.

The Union Ministry of Earth Sciences' Early Warning System's prognosis for Delhi indicates that the AQI is likely to stay "moderate" on Saturday before declining to "poor" on Sunday. According to the forecast for the next six days, the air quality will largely be between "poor" and "moderate."
