Shaheen Afridi, one of the best fast bowlers in the world, returned to the team when the head of selectors for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Muhammad Wasim, announced the squad's 15-member roster for the T20 World Cup on Thursday. Due to a knee injury, the left-arm pacer missed the Asia Cup 2022, and there had been questions about whether he would play in the coveted international competition. In addition, Shoaib Malik, a well-known player who was expected to rejoin the Pakistani team after the middle-patchy order's performance, is still absent. Prior to the World Cup, the same team will play New Zealand in a T20I series.
Shan Masood has rejoined the team after receiving widespread support for doing so. Along with Mohammad Haris and Shahnawaz Dahani, Fakhar Zaman, a member of the Asia Cup team, has been picked as one of the three reserves. Shaheen Afridi is anticipated to start bowling again next month, while Mohammad Wasim Jr. has fully recovered from the side strain he sustained during the Asia Cup.
The PCB published a video introducing the team to the international competition.

Speaking in a press conference to announce the 15-member squad, Wasim said, "We have a team that can perform strongly in the T20 World Cup. That’s why we have shown faith and confidence in almost the same set of players who have been part of the T20I squad post the 2021 World Cup in the UAE.”
"These players have performed well since November 2021 and that’s why we have won nine out of our last 13 T20Is. We have invested in these cricketers and it is fair to them that they get the opportunity to show their mettle in the World Cup, an event for which they have been preparing and training hard.”
Pakistan has selected the same lineup for the seven-match domestic T20I series against England, with the addition of all-rounder Aamir Jamal and unidentified spinner Abrar Ahmed in place of Afridi and Fakhar.
