Bhopal: After West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress (TMC) Mamata Banerjee's 'UPA is not', veteran Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Thursday claimed that no political alliance against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is possible without the Congress. Talking to media persons, Digvijay said, 'Those who want to come with us should come with us and those who do not want to join us are free to do so. Our fight is against the BJP.'
The Congress leader said, "Almost all parties except the Congress have formed a government with the BJP. There is only one Congress party that is fighting against the party in power. Without us, no political alliance is possible against the BJP in this country. Digvijay Singh further said that ideology is the main reason for political conflicts in this country. He claimed that there are two types of ideologies in India, one of 'Gandhi and Nehru', the other of the Sangh which uses religion as a weapon in politics.
Digvijay Singh further said that Congress never used religion for politics. All parties need to understand that the BJP can be defeated only by coming together. We all need to come together and fight the BJP. He said, "Even in Uttar Pradesh, only Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is fighting against the BJP. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said after meeting NCP Chief Sharad Pawar on Wednesday, "What is UPA? There's no UPA.'
