SHARJAH: Asia Cup 2022-  After a close loss to Pakistan in the Asia Cup, Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi admitted that his team did not hold the nerves and was not able to finish well, he said, t they didn't leave the game at any stage.

At the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, Pakistan overcame a scare and kept their composure to defeat Afghanistan by one wicket in a dramatic Super Four match, advance to the Asia Cup 2022 final, and eliminate India from the competition.

Pakistan will now play Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final following this victory. Afghanistan and India, on the other hand, were eliminated after each team lost their two Super Four games in a row. The two teams will now square off on Thursday in a dead rubber.

"Although the fielding and bowling were excellent, we didn't finish properly and we lost our composure. At no point did we quit the game. The boys sparred on each ball. Once more, the game was over with the ball and the bat "Nabi remarked this during the post-game presentation.

The Afghan captain understood that on that field, chasing 130 wouldn't be simple.

"In our opinion, we chased effectively against Bangladesh. We looked to bowl dot balls since we anticipated that chasing 130 would be difficult here. We did not provide simple singles, "added him.

Before the start of the final over, Fazalhaq Farooqi -- most Afghanistan's effective bowler of the evening -- crumbled under strain as Naseem Shah smashed back-to-back sixes off the first two balls and guided Pakistan to an exciting one-wicket victory with four balls to spare.

Nabi said he advised the bowler to employ either slower bouncers or yorkers on the final two deliveries when questioned about the strategy.

"Farooqi had intended to bowl slower bouncers or yorkers on the final two deliveries, but he failed to carry out his strategy. We will make every effort to play the last game with the same enthusiasm. Tomorrow is the game that we have. It was nice to have the support from the supporters here. Thank you," he said
