The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued an alert for cold wave in several northern states, including the New Delhil. The IMD observed that temperature is expected to further dip in these regions between Friday and Sunday.
Let us read the official statement of IMD, "Due to likely fall in minimum temperatures over northwest India, cold wave condition is expected to prevail at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, north Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh between November 27 and November 29,".
The IMD added that under the influence of Western Disturbance over Afghanistan and neighboring areas, fairly extensive to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall, snow and isolated hailstorms was expected over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh on November 25. The alert came as most places in Kashmir continued to receive intermittent snowfall and rains for the third successive day on Wednesday.
