Heavy rain forecast in South India, electricity may fall in UP-Bihar

New Delhi: The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in some regions of South India. According to the department, heavy rainfall has been forecast in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karnataka on Friday. Along with this, there may be rains in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal, Madhya Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Konkan, Goa, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya. Central Water Commission said that there has been heavy rainfall in Bhagmandala taluk of Kodagu district of Karnataka. 105 cm of rain has been recorded here from August 5 to 7.

The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of lightning in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Manipur. It is being told that a strong thunderstorm can also prevail in these states. Also, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain in Uttarakhand. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are expected in 6 districts including Dehradun on Friday. At the same time, on August 8 and 9, orange warning of heavy rain has been issued somewhere in the state. The next four-five days of rain in the state will be fast. With the increase in water in the rivers due to heavy rains, the possibility of landslides from the mountains has increased.

The floods continue to wreak havoc in Bihar. So far 21 people have lost their lives in the state due to floods. More than 69 lakh people in 16 districts are affected by the floods. Disaster management department has informed that maximum 7 people have died in Darbhanga district, 6 in Muzaffarpur, four in West Champaran and two each in Saran and Siwan due to floods.
