Weather Updates: IMD foretells rainfall for Odisha and Andhra Pradesh

After wreaking havoc in several parts of the country, the monsoon has enrolled a break phase in India. The India Meteorological Department has foretold that the rainfall activity would continue in Odisha and Coastal Andhra Pradesh till August 15 and is likely to rise to annex areas of Telangana, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, east Madhya Pradesh till August 18.

According to IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue over Northeast India and West Bengal till today. The IMD said that separated heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted in Telangana from August 17 for a span of 24 hours and subdued rainfall is very likely over the rest parts of the country.

"The monsoon trough now runs close to the foothills of the Himalayas. A cyclonic circulation lies over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh coast in mid-tropospheric levels, tilting southwestwards with height," read IMD's latest weather bulletin stated. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar continue to battle flood fury as the river Ganga has crossed the danger mark in Patna and Varanasi. The weather office has forecast heavy downpours in the catchment of Brahmaputra, Barak and its tributaries and northeastern states such as Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.
