Madhepura: Over 200 people fell ill after consuming food at a wedding function in Bihar's Madhepura district, police said on Sunday. On Monday night, a banquet was organized due to the wedding program at Pathraha in Singheshwar city. In this, arrangements were made for food for two to three thousand guests including baraatis. After eating, all the guests fell asleep. People's health started deteriorating since late at night. By morning, there was a queue of sick people. Someone was vomiting, someone was having diarrhea, and someone was seething with a fever.

Shailendra Yadav's daughter, a resident of Ward Pathraha in Singheshwar, was married. The procession had come from Marliganj. The sick patients were rushed to the hospital. On seeing this, there was a line of sick people in the hospital. All beds in the emergency ward were full. Treatment was done by merging persons on one bed. At present, the condition of all is out of danger. Some were treated at home. At first, people thought that their health was deteriorating due to some other reason. But as the number of sick increased, people became alert. Later, it was found that the health had deteriorated only after eating the banquet.

On the other hand, there was an atmosphere of chaos in Sadar Hospital on Tuesday due to the arrival of such a large number of patients together. Emergency wards were evacuated. Normal patients were shifted to other wards. A separate team of doctors was formed for the treatment of patients suffering from vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. Dr. Bhaskar of The Medical College Hospital said that all the people have been victims of food poisoning due to eating toxic food. All are being treated. Ward councilor Ahilya Devi is also among those sick.
