Renowned classical singer Pandit Vijay Kumar Kichlu passed away on Friday evening. Pandit Vijay Kumar Kichlu started having difficulty in breathing, and due to this, he was admitted to the hospital in Kolkata. Where he died. Pandit Vijay Kumar Kichlu was 93 years old. He was also honored with Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.

The hospital official said in a statement that Pandit Kichlu was brought to the hospital in a state of breathlessness. He suffered a heart attack even before the treatment started. After which he died at around 6:20 pm. Along with this, the hospital has said that the singer was admitted to the same hospital last month after suffering a heart attack and was undergoing treatment for two weeks. As per reports, the singer was battling heart problems and other ailments for a long time.

Pandit Vijay Kumar Kichlu was born in the year 1930. He formed a duo with his brother Ravi Kichlu, a popular classical singer. He was the founder and head of the ITC Music Research Academy for 25 years. He also established the Sangeet Anusandhan Academy to support budding talents in Indian classical music. Kichlu was also awarded the Padma Shri in 2018. At the same time, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of great musician Pandit Vijay Kumar Kichlu. Expressing her condolences to Kichlu's family members and fans, Mamata Banerjee called the loss irreparable.
