Indian weightlifters have created history by winning the team trophy for the first time at the World Youth Weightlifting Championships. The Indian team was second in boys and third in girls. For the first time, Indian weightlifters have also won a total of 14 medals in the championship. The boys have won three silver and six bronze medals, while the girls have also won one silver and four gold medals.

According to Sahdev Yadav, president of the weightlifting team, boys have scored a total 413 points and girls have scored 393 points in this championship held in Dores (Albania) from March 25 to April 1. Among girls, Egypt was first with 591 points, followed by America with 418. Among boys, Armenia ranked first with 536 points, and Kazakhstan ranked third with 369 points. Joshna, Akanksha, Asmita, Koyal, Meena, Sanjana, Martina, Dhanush, Tufel, Gurunaidu, Tomchou Mitei, Golom, and Bharali have participated in this championship.

Earlier, it was reported that Jyoshna won the silver medal in the snatch category, but she was placed 6th out of 7 lifters in the clean and jerk category. At the same time, Dhanush lifted a total of 200 kg (88 kg and 112 kg) in the men's 49 kg event, which made him the Prince of the Philippines. He finished third behind Delos Santos and Eron Bores. This 16-year-old weightlifter won a silver medal in the snatch category. Weightlifters aged 13 to 17 can participate in the Youth Championship.

Medals are awarded separately for snatch, clean, and jerk and total weight classes in continental and world championships, but only one medal is being awarded for total weight in the Olympic Games.
