Kolkata: A 40-year-old BJP worker was allegedly beaten to death after a controversy over hoisting the national flag on the occasion of 74th Independence Day in West Bengal. The incident came to light from Khanakul area of Hooghly district on Saturday. According to the information, both the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the BJP gathered in Natibpur to hoist the tricolor outside their party office. In a short time, the dispute started between the activist of both the parties with a minor conflict and turned into a violent struggle.
BJP has alleged that this person named Sudarshan Pramanik was beaten to death by TMC workers. In Arambagh, BJP in-charge Biman Ghosh alleged, "Sudarshan was a very active worker at the booth level. He was preparing to hoist the national flag on Saturday morning but TMC goons attacked him and killed him. I do not know how many BJP leaders will have to sacrifice their lives to liberate Bengal from TMC's Jungle Raj. ''
However, TMC chief of Hooghly district, Dilip Yadav, termed all the allegations as false and said that the dispute took place within two groups within the BJP itself. It has nothing to do with TMC. He said, 'TMC has nothing to do with this incident. Police is investigating the case. The BJP wants to spread anarchy in the state through violence. I appeal to the people to oppose this kind of politics. '
