Kolkata: On Monday morning, a tea vendor tried to commit suicide by setting himself on fire at NJP railway station in Siliguri district of West Bengal. The name of the tea seller is Raju. He used to sell tea at NJP railway station. But the lockdown has been going on for the last few months. The movement of trains is closed, due to which everything is stalled.

According to the information received from the local people, at around 9 am today, tea seller Raju reached the station with his tea kettle. Sometime after this, he put kerosene oil on his body in front of the main entrance of the station and tried self-immolation. Seeing this scene, some people present in the station started running away scared. But as soon as the train driver in the station premises came to know about this incident, he immediately reached the spot and extinguished the fire through Triple. At the same time, the ambulance was called by RPF police.

As soon as the news of the incident was received, Ambulance reached the spot and vendor Raju was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. The drivers present in the station premises told that for a long time they have been watching Raju selling tea at the station. But during the current lockdown, the train service is closed. Passengers are not coming from outside. Due to which Raju's tea business has also been badly affected.
