Kolkata: A bus on the Sealdah flyover in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, crushed people going to see the Durga Puja pandal. 3 people of the same family lost their lives in the incident, while 3 others were injured. It is being told that Bablu Khan, the driver sitting on the bus, was asked by the people several times to slow down the bus. But he did not listen to anyone. Three people have been arrested in this case. They have been identified as driver Bablu Khan, conductor Nooruddin Khan and helper Armaan Khan. A case has been registered against them under non-bailable sections.

According to media reports, the driver lost control of the bus, which led to the accident. However, the investigating officer has told that the private bus was going to the airport. On the way, 6 people were crossing the bridge. He also tried to stop the driver Bablu Khan by shouting, and raising his hands, but he did not listen to anyone and crushed the people walking on the bridge in front of the Mala Hotel. The bus was confiscated after the incident. Mechanical tests are being done to see if there is any other reason for the accident.

Traffic Police DC Sunil Yadav has told that 'We have booked them under the sections of negligent driving, culpable homicide not amounting to killing, endangering the life or personal safety of others and causing grievous harm to them.' According to the information, the whole incident happened on Wednesday (5 October 2022). Aditi Gupta, 18, died on the spot after the collision, while Rahul Kumar Prasad (30) and Nandini Kumari of Howrah succumbed at the hospital. Apart from these, Rishi Gupta, Nilesh Gupta and Rahat Gupta have been seriously injured.

According to the police, the family that Bablu Khan was crushed by the bus, were living in the port area and had left their house to visit the Durga Puja pandal. All of them had gone to see the puja pandal at Santosh Mitra crossroads. After this, after going through the Sealdah flyover, he went out to see the puja pandal at the Sealdah Railway Quarter. Meanwhile, they had to cross a flyover. When all the family members were crossing the flyover, then the private bus of route no. 46 trampled them.
