Kolkata: A Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader in West Bengal has faced fierce opposition from villagers. The incident took place in Bijra village under Amadpur gram Panchayat under Memari police station area of Burdwan district. On Sunday, there was a huge uproar at a gathering in Bijra village over the 'Laxmi Bhandar' organised by the TMC.

During this time, angry people hurled abuses at Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders and threw chairs and tables at them. It is said that a criticism meeting was organized by the TMC Mahila Congress Committee in Bijra village about the villagers. During this meeting, the villagers started raising their voices there demanding a Paved road. Villagers say that the roads of the village have been in a bad condition for quite some time. The villagers have been demanding a Paved road, but the Panchayat and leaders have been giving only assurances for many years. The road hasn't been built yet. In the rain, the road made of soil becomes so dangerous that it is difficult for pregnant women to go for treatment, and children are not able to go to school.

Seeing the Panchayat Pradhan and TMC leaders in the meeting, the villagers started demanding the construction of the road. They ransacked the venue in anger. Sadhna Hazra, the Pradhan of Amadpur Gram Panchayat, had to face siege and protest. The matter was hushed up with the promptness of the police after the incident. At the moment, everyone has remained silent on this matter.
