Tripura: Couple commits suicide due to poverty after positioning children

Agartala: Four members of the same family allegedly committed suicide in the Sadhu Bairagi area of West Tripura district in Tripura. The deceased include their children along with their spouses. The couple's body was found hanging from a tree outside the house of thatch. The couple had poisoned and killed their children before committing suicide, after which they committed suicide themselves. Initial investigations suggest that poverty may be the cause of suicide.

According to ASP Amitabh Paul, those who died include 32-year-old Paresh Tanti, his wife, 28-year-old Sandhya Tanti. The first couple poisoned their children Rupali, 5-year-old Tanti and 9-year-old Vishal, after the children's death, the couple committed suicide by hanging themselves from a tree outside their shed. According to the police, the reason for the suicide has not been clear yet, but locals claim that poverty is the reason behind this mass suicide.

Locals say that the dead family was struggling with shortage of money. Because of this the family committed suicide. The police have registered a case and are involved in the investigation. Only after a detailed investigation into the incident will be clear what was the reason for the suicide.
