New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in important bilateral meetings with Kuwait's Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Palestine's President Mahmoud Abbas during the UN General Assembly on Sunday.

In a post on X, PM Modi described his discussions with the Crown Prince as "very productive." They focused on enhancing cooperation in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, food processing, technology, and energy.

“This was the first meeting between Prime Minister Modi and the Crown Prince of Kuwait,” a statement noted. PM Modi emphasized that India highly values its relationship with Kuwait.

The leaders reflected on the strong historical ties and the people-to-people connections between their countries. They expressed satisfaction with the mutual support for energy and food security.

PM Modi expressed gratitude to the Crown Prince for the well-being of the Indian community in Kuwait, which is the largest expatriate group there. The meeting aims to invigorate the bilateral relationship between India and Kuwait.

Following this, PM Modi met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared on X that PM Modi reiterated India’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people.

“PM expressed deep concern at the humanitarian situation in Gaza and reaffirmed India’s continued support to the people of Palestine,” Jaiswal said.

The statement highlighted PM Modi's deep concern regarding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the worsening security situation in the area. He reaffirmed India’s unwavering support for humanitarian assistance to Palestine.

PM Modi also reiterated India's longstanding position on the Israel-Palestine conflict, calling for a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and a return to dialogue and diplomacy. He stressed that a two-state solution is essential for lasting peace and stability in the region. India was one of the first nations to recognize Palestine, and PM Modi reaffirmed support for its UN membership.

The two leaders held constructive discussions on various aspects of India-Palestine relations, including India’s support at the United Nations and ongoing assistance in education, health, and capacity-building initiatives. Both leaders committed to further strengthening their bilateral ties.
