New Delhi: The battle over who is the Delhi boss had been going on between the Kejriwal government and the Lieutenant Governor for the past several years. The matter has reached the court. But now the central government has made it clear that the real boss of Delhi will be the one who will sit in the lieutenant governor's chair. On Monday, Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy introduced the National Capital Territory of Delhi government, amendment bill on behalf of the Modi government. Through this bill, the central government has stated that the Lieutenant Governor will now be above the CM in every case.

Three major changes in the Government of NCT of Delhi Law 1991 through the bill

- Amending section 21 of the law, it has been stated that in any law passed by the Delhi Assembly, the word ' government ' shall be treated as lieutenant governor.
- At the same time, section 24 has been widened, wherein the Lieutenant Governor may refuse to approve the law passed by the Assembly if he wants.
- As per the amendment made in Section 44, it has been made mandatory to seek the opinion of the Lieutenant Governor before the implementation of any decision taken by the Delhi government or the Assembly.

The newly revised bill was set to escalate the tussle between the Centre and the Delhi government and the same happened by late evening. As soon as the bill was introduced, Arvind Kejriwal targeted the government. Kejriwal said, "The BJP wants to reduce the strengths of the Delhi government by bringing bills in the Lok Sabha after the people of Delhi rejected the assembly elections and the MSD elections." While the bill is against the decision of the Constitution Bench, the BJP has said that Kejriwal is opposing the bill because he fears that his old cases will be reopened due to the bill.
