New Delhi: The party is set to hold a big meeting at the residence of Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday over the proposed assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. The meeting is said to have a strategy for the UP elections. Apart from Sonia Gandhi, the party's national general secretary and UP in-charge Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will also be present at the meeting. At the same time, the meeting may also be attended by prominent leaders of the Election Committee and the Campaign Committee.

The Congress is now gearing up to build its ground for the UP assembly elections. In fact, congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is in full swing for the UP elections. The party has given Priyanka a free hand. On the other hand, Congress has not entered into an electoral alliance with any political party in the state. So the party is assuming that it will subside alone in the elections.

Congress has also announced the names of some candidates. While applications have been invited from candidates desirous of contesting elections. Though Priyanka Gandhi campaigned for the Congress in UP even during the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress could not do much in the elections. The extent was reached when Congress lost the election in Amethi, its traditional seat for years.
