In June, WhatsApp banned almost 2.2 million Indian accounts and got 632 complaints, according to a report titled "India Monthly Report under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021." The report for the month of June has been published in line with the Information Technology  Rules of 2021.

When it comes to end-to-end encrypted messaging systems, WhatsApp is the market leader in preventing abuse. In order to keep our users safe on our platform, we have constantly invested in Artificial Intelligence and other state-of-the-art technology, data scientists and experts, and processes over the years, the WhatsApp representative added. From June 1 to June 30, 2022, WhatsApp reported having 2,210,000 Indian accounts.

"This user safety report includes information on user complaints received and WhatsApp's response to them, as well as WhatsApp's own proactive measures to stop abuse on our platform. In June, WhatsApp banned almost 2.2 million accounts, as shown in the most recent Monthly Report, the spokesperson said. According to WhatsApp's latest report, 16 complaints and 426 requests to block the account were made for safety-related grounds. Moreover, 64 accounts were handled at this time based on the reports received.

In its report, WhatsApp stated that in addition to responding to and taking action on user complaints through the grievance channel, it also uses tools and resources to stop harmful behaviour on the network. We put a lot of emphasis on prevention because we think it is far preferable to stop hazardous conduct before it starts than to discover it after harm has already been done. It also said that abuse detection operates at three different points in an account's lifecycle: upon account creation, during messaging, and in response to unfavourable comments we get in the form of user reports and account blocks.
