New Delhi: World No.1 ODI batsman Virat Kohli is celebrating his 32nd birthday today. Born on 5 November 1988 in New Delhi, Kohli is counted among the best batsmen in the world today. The hard work Kohli has done to reach this point, is also shared by his father. Even Kohli's father was asked to give bribe for Virat's selection in team but he refused to pay money.

In May this year, Virat Kohli himself had told about this incident, Kohli said that his father was asked to give bribe. In an Instagram live with Sunil Chhetri, Kohli had told that at one time his father was asked for money to join him in the state cricket team. Kohli said that he was playing well at that time. Once in state cricket someone came forward and told his father that there is no problem of selection, but for this he will have to do something extra. That is, they were asking for money. It was understood what he was asking for. But his father has become a lawyer by working hard and those who work do not understand this language.

Kohli further said, "My father simply said, ‘If you want to select Virat, then let it be purely on merit. I will give you nothing extra’.  Kohli said that the incident shaped him mentally and emotionally. He said, "I did not get selected. I cried a lot. I was broken. But that incident taught me a lot. I realised that I had to be extraordinary to become successful and that I had to achieve this purely through my own effort and hard work. My father showed me the right way, through action and not merely words."
