Lucknow: The terror of former MP and Bahubali Mukhtar Ansari used to remain intact outside the jail as well as inside the jail. In Lucknow, he even pointed a pistol at the jailer. The then jailer, Shiv Kumar Awasthi, while talking to the media, told how he fought Mukhtar, due to which he is behind bars today.

Shiv Kumar Awasthi told that someone had come to meet Mukhtar in jail. He said that whoever has come will be searched. After this, Mukhtar came there. He had no idea that the person coming to meet him had a pistol. Mukhtar found this very disconcerting. Mukhtar became furious because of the search. He said, Why are you searching for it? He became so angry on this point that he took out the pistol of the visitor and pointed it at him (the jailer). After this act by Mukhtar, he lodged an FIR against him, but after that, he was transferred to Ghazipur in 2010. While he had said that this transfer was not right for him, he went there and served for three years.

SK Awasthi says that jailers Ashok Gautam and RK Tiwari were murdered. In such a situation, people are always in fear. He knew that no sage or saint used to come to the jail. Still, they felt that Mukhtar was doing all this to spread panic. But he did not get scared and kept standing with promptness. He told that the DM-SP used to come to Ghazipur jail to play badminton with Mukhtar. There was a pond in the jail, and in that pond, Mukhtar used to rear fish of his choice. There in the jail, 99 percent were his own men. 50 percent of the jail staff were also involved with Mukhtar. There, he used to grow and harvest the paddy crop as per his wishes.

Be it Akhilesh or Mayawati, the value of Mukhtar Ansari's vote was very high in all governments. SK Awasthi tells us that Mukhtar told him that he had come from Delhi. At the behest of the DM, he was kept inside the jail. Mukhtar said that he will go to court under the protection of the UP police. Mukhtar threatened and said that it seems, Awasthi ji, you will have to learn to get a job after getting transferred to Ghazipur. But even after this, he was not afraid. He said that I would get a job there too. On this, Mukhtar said that the government is based on one vote. If he does not pass the floor test, then the government will fall.
