Padmini Kolhapuri is one of the most famous actresses of her time.  An incident happened with actress Padmini Kolhapure, which became headlines in Britain.

In the 80s, Princles Charles visited India, Suddenly he decided to watch the shooting of a Bollywood film, so his delegation reached Rajkamal Studio. There the shooting of the film Ahista-Ahista was going on. Padmini was lead actress in the movie.

Prince Charles came on the set, his aarti was done first and then he started meeting everyone one by one. When he reached near Padmini Kolhapure, the actress could not hold back and she hugged him and then kissed him on the cheek. At that time Kissing someone was a very big thing and it catched the eyes of Media.

 

In an old interview speaking about the incident said, “He was visiting Mumbai and I don’t know what he thought that he wanted to see a shoot. We were shooting for Ahista Ahista at Rajkamal Studios. Shashikala Ji did his Indian aarti and I just greeted him with a peck on his cheek. But, in those days, it became a big thing. I remember I went to London for a holiday and this British immigration officer asked me, ‘Are you the same person who kissed Prince Charles?’ I was left embarrassed,”

The actress further added, ‘After this incident, there was a lot of discussion about it. There was a time when kissing someone like this was not considered common practice. So this turned out to be a big deal. Then one such time I went on holiday to London. Then there an officer from British immigration came to me and asked me are you the one who kissed Prince Charles? I was very embarrassed on hearing this.
