Rekha was Born Bhanurekha Ganesan on 10 th October 1954, Her parents, Pushpavalli and Gemini Ganesan were actors. Rekha is celebrating her birthday today. The actress remained in controversy throughout her career spans. Rekha’s love life grabbed all the limelights at that time. Rekha once in an interview was opens up about her drug addiction.

In the show when Simi Garewal asks Rekha , “How come one has never heard of Rekha’s been on a drinking binge or Rekha’s been on drugs. You just kept it very clean, how?” Rekha quipped, “Of course, I’ve been drinking binges. Of course, I’ve been on drugs. I’ve been very impure. I’ve been lusting like hell. Ask me with what? With life. Gotcha!”

She further speaking about her love for Amitabh Bachchan said, “I have yet to come across a single man, woman, child who can help but fall completely, passionately, insanely, desperately, hopelessly in love with him. So why should I be singled out? What do I deny? I’m not in love with him? Of course I am. Duniya bhar ka love aap le lijiyega and add some more – I feel that for that person. Bottomline.”

On the career front, Rekha has acted in over 180 films in a career spanning over 40 years. Throughout her career, she has often played strong female characters and, apart from mainstream cinema, appeared in parallel cinema also. She has won three Filmfare Awards, two for Best Actress and one for Best Supporting Actress, for her roles in Khubsoorat (1980), Khoon Bhari Maang (1988) and Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1996).
