Football fans are known as the world's most passionate fans. Regardless of the national team or favourite club, the feelings of the fans are associated with their teams. There are rivals around the world where the defeat of teams sometimes takes the form of violence. Greece's two domestic clubs, Olympiakos and PAOK, are among the same clubs whose fans feel so attached to the team that many times they are unable to bear the defeat of the favourite team.
During the Greek Cup 2016, something happened between the two teams after which the fans set the field on fire in anger. In Thessaloniki, the match was being played between the two teams, with the Olympics leading 2–1. In the last minute of the match, the fight started between the fans in the stand, after which they threw the crackers on the ground, which opened fire. During the match, the referee gave the yellow card to the PAOK player to dive.
It was difficult for the police to stop the fans: Fans came on the field from the stand and confronted the referee. The fans of the two clubs kept fighting with each other in the stand. After this, clashes started between the fans and the police. The police had to use tear gas to control the fans. Fans also threw firecrackers at the opponents' players. After this, the match was cancelled.

These two teams are the biggest clubs in Greece. The rivalry between these two is due to both cities. PAOK is associated with Thessaloniki, which is the capital of Macedonia. The people of Thessaloniki feel that the Greek government is more supportive of Olipiox and for this reason considers it as their rival. Since 1927, this rivalry between the two continues, in which the fans of both clubs have come face to face. The hatred between the two clubs increased when in 1960, PAOK star player Giorgos Kudas decided to go to Olipiox. Angered by this decision, PAOK fans staged a protest across the city. The performance was so large that Giorgos had to change his decision.
