Patna: English liquor worth Rs 3 lakh was recovered from a passenger AC bus returning to Patna from Ranchi on Wednesday evening at Sohagi Bend on Patna-Gaya SH-1 in Bihar. Two persons including the driver fled the spot after seeing the police standing on the road but three persons were somehow arrested by the police.
An FIR has been lodged by the Product Department at Gaurichak police station in this regard. SHO Lalmuni Dubey said that FIR has been registered in the case in which Engineer Mukesh from Jehanabad, Shravan of Gopalpur police station area and Khalasi Roshan of harnaut bus were arrested and sent to jail. The police had received information that the liquor is transported from Ranchi to Patna bus stand via Gaya by bus and delivered to eminent people from there. On this input, the bus was stopped by a special team of the product department in collaboration with Gaurichak police by blocking the road by checking the vehicle near Sohagi Bend in which 20-30 passengers were also coming to Ranchi from Patna.
When the bus was checked, 250 precious bottles of liquor were found in the trunk by constructing a basement. Police have seized the bus and rushed all the passengers home safely. When the three arrested smugglers were questioned by the police, it was found that he was an engineer and worked in a company in Odisha. But after the lockdown, he came to Bihar and started selling illicit liquor.
