Dumka: After 2 years, the Chhath festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. Due to this some untoward incidents also took place. The latest incident is from Dumka. In the district, a 13-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself. It is said that the girl took such a big step simply because her mother had asked her to help in making the prasad for Chhath Puja. 

The whole incident is of Dudhani Shivpuri locality under Saruva Panchayat of Dumka district. The police handed over the body to the family members after the postmortem. The family members are in a bad state. Regarding the matter, Vinod Kewat, the father of the deceased told that preparations for Chhath were going on in the house. Apart from the house, the people around also gave the responsibility of Chhath by giving soup-dala. When the mother asked the daughter to join hands in making the prasad, she got annoyed because there was a lot of soup-dala. Going into the room, she committed suicide by hanging herself from the noose. When the door of the room did not open for a long time, the family members broke the door and entered the room fearing something untoward. The dead body of the daughter was hanging from the noose. The family members brought her down and brought her to Phoolo-Jhano Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

On receiving the news of the same incident, the police of the city police station reached the hospital and after taking the statement of the family members, got the post-mortem done. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to her family members. A UD case has been registered in this matter.
