One of its monks, Amogh Lila Das, has been excommunicated by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon), a group devoted to promoting Sanatan Dharma globally. Reason: During one of his recent "pravachans," he made contentious comments about the great philosopher Swami Vivekananda and his guru Ramakrishna Paramhansa.

According to a press release from the Iskcon on Tuesday, Amogh Lila Prabhu has admitted to making unwise comments about Swami Vivekananda and his guru. According to the press release, he would therefore abstain from all social activities for a full month as an act of penance.

An influential user on social media is Amogh Lila Das. On various social media platforms, his videos about religion and motivation are frequently found trending. Amogh Lila Das, who is renowned for his peculiar speech, was once an engineer for a US-based company before quitting to pursue spirituality.

 

AMOGH LILA DAS: WHO IS HE?


On the internet, there is not much written material about Amogh Lila Das. However, Amogh Lila Das claims in some of his YouTube video interviews that he was actually born Ashish Arora in a Lucknow, India, religious family.

Amogh Lila Das claims that he started his spiritual journey when he was very young. He left his home in search of God in 2000, when he was a Class 12 student. But he made the decision to return and finish his software engineering degree. In 2004, after receiving his diploma, he began working for a multinational corporation with headquarters in the US.

He was a project manager, according to Amogh Lila Das, before he made the decision to leave the corporate world in 2010. He joined Iskcon at the age of 29 and committed himself to living a celibate Hare Krishna Brahmachari life.

Many people follow the engineer-turned-monk on social media. He held the position of vice-president of the Iskcon temple in Delhi's Dwarka before being expelled from the organisation.

HOW COME ISKCON BANNED AMOGH LILA DAS?


Amogh Lila Das questioned Swami Vivekananda's consumption of fish in one of his pravachans, asserting that a good man would never eat anything that would harm an animal.

Will a good man ever consume fish? Do you think a fish also feels pain? Then, will a good man eat fish? The speaker, Amogh Lila Das, addressed the audience. He also made fun of Ramakrishna Paramhans, the spiritual leader of Swami Vivekananda.

Iskcon released a statement in which it expressed its sorrow over Amogh Lila Das's "inappropriate and unacceptable comments and his lack of understanding about the great teachings of these two personalities," and announced that he would be expelled from Iskcon for a month.
