Srinagar: Who was responsible for the massacre of thousands of Hindus and Sikhs in Jammu and Kashmir between 1989-2003? Who gave help to these criminal people who shed the blood of Hindus and Sikhs? Now there has been a demand to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to identify these criminals. An NGO named 'We the Citizen' has made this demand from the Government of India.

The NGO has said to run the case against the accused on the basis of the report of the SIT constituted by the Government of India. These people have also demanded a census of those Hindus and Sikhs of Jammu and Kashmir, who are today forced to live in different parts of the country. This NGO has urged the Government of India that all property sales that took place here after the exodus in January 1990 should be cancelled. Whether it is religious, residential, agricultural, commercial, institutional, educational or any other immovable property.

The NGO says that the state machinery is influenced by the ruling political parties to such an extent that no legal action has been taken against the criminals who were the main perpetrators of religious killings and exodus. This is also evident from the fact that the then Chief Minister resigned and the anti-nationals got a free hand to occupy Kashmir. Along with this, the NGO has also demanded the Center to make arrangements for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Hindus and Sikhs who had migrated from Kashmir to any other part of the country in 1990 or after to save their lives and religion.

The NGO 'We the Citizens' has also filed a petition in the apex court through advocate Barun Kumar Sinha. In this, the Supreme Court has been requested to direct the Central Government and the Union Territory to conduct a census of those Hindus and Sikhs of Jammu and Kashmir, who are today somehow living in different parts of the country.
