Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin created history in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has become the first player to be retired. This spin all-rounder of Rajasthan Royals (RR) was retired in the match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Rajasthan team captain Sanju Samson has now revealed on whose decision it was to retire Ashwin. He also said that he had thought about retired out many times even before the tournament. This time he has applied for it.

After the same match, Sanju Samson told on Ashwin's retired out – this decision was for the Rajasthan Royals team. Sometimes we try to do different things. We've talked about it before the season as well. We used to think that if any such situation arises, we will apply it. It was a team decision. In fact, Ashwin, who came out to bat at number six in the match against Lucknow at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, was retired after the second ball of the 19th over.

Before retiring, Ashwin scored 28 runs in 23 balls. Due to this, he also scored two sixes. Ashwin was feeling tired while batting, so in the good of the team, he thought it appropriate to give a chance to youngster Riyan Parag to bat. Parag scored 8 not out off 4 balls, which included a six. Former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop reacted to the incident and called it the best T20 strategy. Bishop tweeted, 'Ashwin's retired out is a great T20 strategy. T20 is prompting us to rethink the way we imagine the game in the 21st century.
