Apple recently launched its iPhone 16 series, showcasing new features, especially in the iPhone 16 Pro range, which boasts the powerful A18 Pro chipset and enhanced cameras. However, many users have reported troubling touchscreen problems.

A report indicates that iPhone 16 Pro users are experiencing unresponsive touchscreens, where taps and swipes are often ignored. This issue affects various actions, such as scrolling, pressing buttons, and using the virtual keyboard.

The source of the problem seems to stem from a software glitch rather than a hardware defect. Specifically, the iOS touch rejection algorithm may be causing the touchscreen troubles.

What’s Behind the Touch Rejection Issues?

The thinner bezels of the iPhone 16 Pro could be contributing to this touchscreen issue. Users might inadvertently touch the edges of the display while holding the device, leading to unregistered inputs. The problem appears to be more significant when the phone is used without a case, as the slimmer design makes it easier for fingers to rest against the sides.

User Reactions to the Touchscreen Problems
A Reddit discussion on the touchscreen issues has garnered various reactions from Apple users. Many reported similar problems, while some older iPhone users noted that they began experiencing these issues after updating to iOS 18.

One iPhone 16 Pro Max user described their experience: “It has never happened on any other iPhone model, but it happens regularly on my 16 Pro Max. It seems to affect the area near the camera control, but it also occurs if my finger just touches the bottom of the screen when reaching for something at the top.”

Another user expressed frustration, stating, “Taps and swipes are not registering constantly. Typing is also way worse; I never hit the letter I want to hit.”

An iPhone 15 Pro user confirmed they also faced similar issues, attributing it to iOS 18. They shared that the problem mostly occurs in apps with item lists like Reddit or Twitter but temporarily resolves by closing and reopening the app. Another frustrated user remarked, “This is driving me crazy! I thought it was app-related since it works again after force closing the app. I hope there’s a fix soon.”
