Zeenat Aman is a famous and veteran actress of Hindi cinema. She has worked in many hit films and is also credited with setting fashion trends in Bollywood. However, as successful as her professional life was, her personal life was equally difficult and painful. Zeenat married actor Mazhar Khan at the peak of her career, which was her second marriage. She was earlier married to actor Sanjay Khan, but had to break this marriage due to Sanjay's alleged abusive behavior.
Zeenat and Mazhar got married in 1985, but the relationship started falling apart in less than a year. After 12 years of marriage, the distance between the two grew and Zeenat decided to leave Mazhar. After this decision, her in-laws turned against her.
Why did she leave Mazhar Khan? Zeenat Aman told in an interview that she decided to leave Mazhar because he had become addicted to many bad habits. She said, "Whatever he was doing, he was harming himself and I could not see it." Zeenat told that Mazhar was so addicted to prescription drugs and painkillers that he used to take medicines seven times a day. The doctor had warned that this could damage his kidneys, but Mazhar did not stop taking medicines. Zeenat and her children explained to him many times, but he did not understand anything. When his kidneys started failing, Zeenat decided to leave Mazhar. Zeenat told, "This decision was very difficult for me, but it was necessary for me and the children."
Punishment from in-laws When Zeenat decided to leave Mazhar, her in-laws started punishing her. Zeenat said that her husband's family turned against her. Even when Mazhar died, she was not allowed to attend his funeral. Zeenat said, "They wanted to punish me because I left Mazhar."
Mazhar Khan had also cheated Zeenat Aman also told that Mazhar Khan had cheated on her within a year of marriage, while Zeenat was pregnant at that time. Despite this, Zeenat saved that relationship for the sake of her children. When Mazhar became seriously ill, Zeenat also took care of him, but in the end she had to take this painful decision.
