New Delhi: Swords have been drawn between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections ( Delhi MCD elections). In the same episode, Union Minister Smriti Irani has hit back at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's statement in which Kejriwal had alleged that the Election Commission had announced to postpone the MCD elections under pressure from the Centre. Kejriwal said it may have been the first time in the country's 75-year history that the central government has directly asked the Election Commission of a state to postpone the elections.

After this, Smriti Irani has questioned CM Kejriwal that why he stopped mcd funds for seven years. "Why was the money from parks, hospitals and community centres withheld? Why did Kejriwal not approve mcd reform? The MCD was deprived of 13,000 crore rupees. At the same time, the money of development works was deliberately stopped. Not only this, the money of the cleaners was also stopped. Apart from all this, Smriti Irani took a dig at Kejriwal, saying that those who talk about there being a wave in the elections should not forget that they got less votes than NOTA in the UP elections. In the Lok Sabha elections also, he was defeated from where he contested. In Uttarakhand, 55 out of 70 seats of AAP have been forfeited.

Let me tell you that this counter-attack from the BJP has come after a statement of Arvind Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal, while addressing a press conference, had said that two days ago, the State Election Commission had given information about the announcement of municipal corporation of Delhi elections. But at 4 o'clock, an hour before the announcement at 5 pm, a letter is written to the Election Commission by the central government. It says that he is going to make all the three municipal corporations of Delhi one corporation at the same time, so postpone the elections. Kejriwal alleged that the Election Commission also postpones the dates of the election schedule at the behest of the central government.
