Why Lord Ganesha got his elephant head?

Ganesha is first worshiped in Indian culture and Hinduism. When Shiva asked all the Gods to revolve around the whole universe, then Ganesh Ji showed his wisdom by circling Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva 7 times, and then Shiva Ji declared him venerable and first worshiped deity. But there came a time when, in anger, Shiva had beheaded Ganesha.

Goddess Parvati once made a statue with her scum before going for a bath and then Goddess put her life in it. In this way, a child was born. Goddess told the child that I am your mother and you only have to obey me. Goddess further said that I am going for a bath and you should not allow anyone to come inside. However at the same moment, Shiv Ji comes and the child starts to stop Shiva Ji, then Shiva Ji with his trident beheaded the child in an angry state. After creating a ruckus in the whole world, Vishnu brings the elephant's head and Shiva resurrects the child by putting the elephant's head. But the question arises as to why the elephant's head?

The thing behind putting an elephant's head is such that the elephant is seen as both a symbol of 'knowledge-power' and 'karma power'. Wisdom and ingenuity are these major qualities found in an elephant. Its large body is an indicator of its intelligence and knowledge. You must have seen that elephants never escape the obstacle, instead, they remove the blockage on the way. Now you must know why elephant's head was placed in Ganesha's body.
