New Delhi: The High Court has issued a notice to the Central government on a petition seeking the opening of Markaz near Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya Dargah in Delhi. The court has asked the Centre to respond in the matter within two weeks. The high court had issued a notice to the central government during the hearing held last month. The court also expressed displeasure over the Centre's inability to respond.

During the hearing, High Court Judge Mukta Gupta expressed her displeasure over the attitude of the Central Government and said why the reply has not been filed so far. Does the Centre even want to respond or not?  According to a petition filed by the Delhi Wakf Board, a reply has been sought from the Centre as to why Markaz has not been opened so far.  In its petition, the Wakf Board said that during the Corona epidemic, the Disaster Management Board had banned the gathering of crowds at religious events in view of security. There was no order to close down religions and places of worship under this rule.

Fifty worshippers were allowed to offer five-time prayers with proper distance and cleanliness sensitization at the Mosque in Markaz under the Corona Protocol following a court order in April. This permission was allowed to be paid in a large hall on the first floor of Markaz. However, it has not yet been opened for residential use.
