The relationship between Lord Shiva and Shri Ganesh is a father-son relationship. Both deities are the main deities of Hinduism. Shri Ganesh was born from the scum of Goddess Parvati. Goddess had built a statue with the scum of her body before bathing and then put life in it. It is also heard in the mythology that once Shiva Ji got angry and severed his son Ganesha's head from the body. But why? So let's know about the story.

When Goddess Parvati built the idol with her scum, Shri Ganesh was born. Goddess then told Shri Ganesh that you are my son and you have to follow my orders. Goddess further said that I am going for a bath and you have to take care that no one can come inside. However, Shiva arrives at the same moment and he begins to proceed towards Goddess' house, however, as per mother's orders, Shri Ganesh starts stopping Lord Shiva and he does not allow Lord Shiva to enter.

Seeing the persistence of Shri Ganesh, Shiva came in an angry state, and with the help of his trident, he hit Shri Ganesh's neck. Ganesha's head was severed from the body due to the stroke of Shiva's trident. When Goddess Parvati saw this scene, she also got angry and her anger caused a whole world outcry. All the Gods asked Shiva to revive the child. During this time Lord Vishnu brought the severed head of an elephant and by putting the head of the elephant in the child's bosy, Shiva resurrected it.
